What some funny stories sound made up but they actually aren't?
When I was 18, 53 years ago, I was pulled over by a police officer,
and he did the usual, “do you know how fast you were going “
I told him I was sorry, I hadn't been paying attention, I was just
enjoying the day, with the top down.
He asked for my license and registration, so I handed it to him,
and he said, It says here you need glasses.
I said, “I have contacts.”
He said, “I don't care who you know”.
I must have looked like a deer in the headlights,
trying to sputter an answer, because he started
laughing.
He said, “I always wanted to say that, and this is
your lucky day, and I am letting you off, because
I am in a good mood and it's too nice of a day, to
ruin it for you and me.

Oseola McCarty was only five feet tall and weighed less than
100 pounds. She left school in the 6th grade because her
grandmother, who took care of her, became sick.
"I would have gone back," she said, "but my classmates had
moved on, and I was too old. I wanted to be with them."
Instead, she worked. She washed clothes and saved money.
"Every month, I saved the same amount and put it away. I
was consistent."
She saved more than she ever needed. Then, in 1995, when
she was in her late 80s, she gave $300,000 to the University
of Southern Mississippi, the college in her hometown, to help
pay for scholarships for poor students.
In her own words, "I wanted to share my wealth with those
children," said Miss McCarty.
Her only real regret? She never went back to school.
"I never minded work, but I was always so busy. Maybe I can
help make it easier for these children, so they don’t have to
work as hard as I did."

did not need school you were full of intelligence and commitment
