Have you noticed what's beautiful today?

Lisa Beamer on Good Morning America:
(I know you don’t remember, but your mom and dad will. Her husband, Todd Beamer, said 'Let's Roll!' and helped take down the hijacked plane over Pennsylvania as it headed for Washington, DC back on 9/11/2001).

She said it's little things she misses most about Todd - hearing the garage door open as he came home, her children running to meet him.

Lisa recalled this story: “I had a very special teacher in high school many years ago whose husband died suddenly of a heart attack. About a week after his death, she shared her insight with a classroom of her students. As the late afternoon sunlight streamed through the classroom windows and class was nearly over, she pushed a few things aside on the edge of her desk and sat down.

With a gentle look of reflection on her face, she paused, then said, "Class is over. I would like to share with all of you, a thought unrelated to class, but which I feel is very important. Each of us is put here on earth to learn, share, love, appreciate and give of ourselves. None of us know when our fantastic experience will end. It can be taken away at any moment."

"Perhaps this is God's way to tell us we must make the most out of every single day." Her eyes, beginning to tear, as she went on, "So I would like you all to make me a promise. From now on, on your way to school, or on your way home, find something beautiful to notice."

"It doesn't have to be something you see. It could be a scent, perhaps of freshly baked bread wafting out of someone's house, or, autumn leaves burning, or, the sound of the breeze slightly rustling the tree leaves, or, how the morning light catches one autumn leaf as it falls gently to the ground. Please seek these things. Cherish them. For, although it may sound trite, these are life’s 'stuff.’ Little things we are put here on earth to enjoy. Things we often take for granted."

The class was silent. We all picked up our books and filed out quietly. That very afternoon, I noticed more things on my way home than I had all semester. Every once in a while, I think of that teacher remembering what an impression she made on me and all of us. I try to appreciate all of those things it’s too easy to overlook.

Take notice of something special you see on your lunch hour today. Go barefoot. Or walk on the beach at sunset. Stop off on the way home tonight to get a double dip ice cream cone. As we grow older, it’s not what we did we often regret, but what we didn't do.

If you like this, feel free to pass it on to a friend. Or, just delete it and go on with your life! “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments which take our breath away."

Here’s what noticing and doing something might look like:

GOD Bless you every day of your life.

Recently I have been perplexed by how to pay special attention to each of the more grandchildren (and nieces and nephews) when they are far away or so much younger than the original, they don't get the same opportunity to have quality (if that's not too offensive as thinking I'm that important) time with me so I may get acquainted with each. I thought about trying to find something pertinent which I could share on a regular (weekly) basis, to recognize each was important to me, even though I provided a specific message I thought was applicable to each. Here's a sample of what I have done this week. If you would like to be on a list to receive copies, I'll be happy to put your name on the mailing list. I would encourage you to help me make it specific to each.

If not, I simply ignore this message. Here's the latest:

Editor's note: from the file and I haven't read it for as many years as it seemed only last night. Please feel free to digest any feelings, and please do not waste any effort so if you do, it's better for your own ways for use.
